00:00 Assalam-o-Alaikum, welcome to The Bouncer. I am your host, Fibz Yadav.
00:04 We will talk about Pakistan cricket.
00:06 In Australia, Pakistan couldn't play well.
00:09 They got a match but it was a miss.
00:11 But there are some moments which are not only in Shaikhin's mind but also in Australian's mind.
00:18 There was an out by Travis Head.
00:20 When Mir Hamza made that out, everyone was saying that it was unbelievable.
00:24 Such an out which will be remembered by the Buddhists.
00:28 Mir Hamza is with us.
00:30 Mir, I would like to welcome you to the show.
00:32 First, let's talk about Travis Head's bold play.
00:34 Then we will talk about the rest of the performances.
00:36 First of all, thank you Shoaib for inviting me for the interview.
00:39 And second, the out by Travis Head in Australia, I think that will be the most memorable out of my life.
00:46 Basically, when our inning got over, we started feeling that we are back in this match.
00:53 I was motivating myself that if I get one or two out to my team, the match can change here.
01:01 When Warner got out, we took a proper out swing fielding for Travis Head.
01:07 We took three slips and even didn't take a square leg.
01:11 We showed him the scene that we will out swing from the middle.
01:17 I think that ready was for that.
01:19 But I was thinking that since it was the first ball, the batsmen are not ready.
01:24 If I bring it in from the inside, it will be difficult.
01:28 And that is exactly what happened.
01:30 I think that is the most memorable wicket of my life.
01:33 So you trapped him.
01:35 You took the field from outside and brought the ball in.
01:41 Exactly, this is what happens.
01:43 Usually, when you take the field for out swing, you don't in swing because there is no fielder on your leg stump.
01:49 So that was ready for this.
01:51 Because the ball was new and my natural swing is also out swing for lefties.
01:55 So I think that was ready but I was ready to take the risk.
01:59 I thought that even if the ball is not accurate, I will get a square leg and I don't have to worry about it.
02:05 Because there was no fielder on my leg stump.
02:07 But I thought that if I get a wicket from here, Australia will be under pressure.
02:13 So you can say that he was expecting something else and the ball was different.
02:17 You outed Marge on 96.
02:19 It seemed that he will be a century.
02:21 But you caught him on 96.
02:23 Yes, exactly.
02:24 Before that, when he reached 80s and I came back for bowling,
02:28 I was told that his father was also out in 90s and so was Sean Marge.
02:38 So I was thinking that I might get a wicket here as well.
02:42 And before that, he hit a boundary as well.
02:46 So the ball was not going to be like that.
02:48 My attempt was to seam it.
02:50 If I seam a ball from here, then there are chances of getting out.
02:54 And he was also out on the exact 96th run.
02:56 That's a good thing.
02:58 You thought that batsman was taking it easy and hit you while walking.
03:04 And then Babar Adam caught his catch, if I am not wrong.
03:07 Was it really easy for you to play or was it your trapping policy?
03:12 I think that if it was easy to play, then I wouldn't have had such economical bowling.
03:18 If you take all my innings, then I think I bowled all the innings in 1.5 or 2.
03:25 I felt that Australians are getting trapped on seam swing.
03:30 And my attempt was to bowl like that.
03:33 But because that 70 over ball was old and Sydney's pitch was slow compared to Melbourne and Perth.
03:39 Because when the ball doesn't come, batsman tries to play ahead of it.
03:45 In which batsman has more chances of getting out.
03:48 So I was talking to Sean that if we keep 3 fielders in front here
03:53 and keep the ball outside the off stump, then he will go to play.
03:57 Because we kept the leg stump empty again.
04:01 So if you see his initial movement, Steve Smith went to the off stump to hit this shot.
04:09 But when the ball was completely outside, he hit it from there.
04:12 And in a way, he also got trapped and got out.
04:15 So whether it is Travis Head or Steve Smith, both the times the field placement was yours for Mir Hamza.
04:22 If we talk about Travis Head, then the whole field placement was mine.
04:26 But if we talk about Steve Smith, then we both talked to each other.
04:31 I told Sean that they won't get out of this field.
04:35 This is a proper field.
04:37 If we do something different for this, then Sean told me that if we keep it outside the off stump and bowl,
04:44 then there are more chances of getting wickets.
04:46 So we have put 2 fielders in front of it.
04:49 So when one ball happened, I told Sean that I think these 2 fielders are less here.
04:55 Then Babar told me to take another 3rd fielder and empty the square leg completely.
05:00 So I think when you have put up the 3rd fielder, Steve Smith was completely easy.
05:06 Because there was nothing in the pitch that I can play it easily on the leg stump.
05:09 I can also play on the up from here.
05:11 So I think me and Sean brother together suggested that we keep 3 fielders in front.
05:16 There was a lot of criticism when you bowled the ball, it was at a speed of 118.
05:20 After taking a screenshot, it was discussed everywhere that Mir Hamza doesn't have speed.
05:24 In Australia, you need a pacer. Mir Hamza's speed is 118.
05:29 Is it really not your speed?
05:31 I think Shoaib brother, I am not worried about the amount of criticism.
05:38 Because I know my skills and I also know what I can disturb the batsman with.
05:44 And as far as I have bowled the ball, it was not a pace ball.
05:52 I bowled it slow and they showed that it has a speed of this much.
05:57 But if you talk about my matches in Sydney, no one has shown that my maximum pace is 139.1.
06:05 And when I was bowling there, I was bowling at 134, 135, 136.
06:12 But still I believe that the pace doesn't disturb the batsman much if it is a seam-swing bowler.
06:20 If I bowl at 135, 135, 136 but it doesn't seem to swing, I don't think the batsman will be disturbed.
06:28 If my ball is swinging, even at 132, 133, the batsman will be disturbed.
06:35 I totally agree with you.
06:37 Let's take Magra, Mohd Asif, Seamer and Mir Hamza.
06:42 If Magra was in Pakistan, would the Pakistanis have criticized him for not having speed?
06:48 Because a seamer doesn't have speed, he has a swing.
06:51 I think if you see any bowler, even if Magra is in Pakistan or even the world-class bowlers here,
07:00 whether they are pace bowlers or seam-swing bowlers, if someone does a bad bowling in a match,
07:07 they start saying that he doesn't have pace.
07:10 And if he gets out in the next match, they say that he is a world-class bowler.
07:15 These things keep happening.
07:17 And as far as you talked about Magra, I remembered a story from that.
07:22 When I bowled 3 out that day, at the end of the day I had an interview with Glenn Magra.
07:29 He is a local channel in South Korea.
07:32 I was very happy to meet such a great legend and talk to him.
07:38 But when he told me off the record that I can understand that someone can swing the duke ball both ways,
07:46 but how can you swing the kookaburra ball on both ways?
07:49 I was surprised to hear that if such a great bowler is praising your skill,
07:55 then I think there is no need for criticism.
07:59 So I get more boost from such things.
08:02 The wicket of Parth is always a treasure for bowlers.
08:05 If you were in Parth, would you have more wickets and would it be beneficial for Pakistan?
08:11 Absolutely. I will say 100% that my wicket is in its place.
08:16 But if I played, because the pitch was very good for fast bowling.
08:22 The ball was cutting there. I wanted to play there.
08:25 But in the end, the decision is of the captain and coach.
08:29 They think for the whole team that how many pacers should we play on this pitch.
08:36 But as a fast bowler, if you ask a batsman, if there is a good batting paradise,
08:41 he will say that I wish I played on this pitch and scored for Pakistan.
08:44 I have the same feeling that if I played on Parth, I would have enjoyed that bowling a lot.
08:51 And if I had scored, then in the end it would have been beneficial for Pakistan.
08:55 The Melbourne Test came out of our hands. Why did it come out?
08:59 Ashwep, I think the cricket that I have played for 14-15 years,
09:04 you have seen more than double the cricket than me.
09:07 So I think the name of cricket is of the same thing.
09:10 You feel that we are winning this match.
09:13 But suddenly a partnership is formed and then the team loses that match.
09:18 And then because of a good spell or a partnership, the team comes back in the game.
09:23 In the same Melbourne, when we made 4 outs on 16,
09:26 we started to feel that if we made them out within 100 runs,
09:32 and the way our bowlers were bowling, we had a golden opportunity to win that match.
09:37 But unfortunately, we could not grab those opportunities.
09:43 Obviously, the way Mitchell Marsh and Steve Smith, the world-class batsmen of Australia,
09:48 batted, it went far beyond our target.
09:53 In the domestic, you have played with the wickets.
09:58 You had gone to Dwaratest with 32 wickets.
10:01 You make runs, but in international cricket,
10:04 it seems that your bowler forgets to make runs.
10:07 Is there pressure?
10:09 Or is it that in international cricket, your bowler forgets to make runs?
10:13 Now in modern day cricket, the tail adds 25-30 runs.
10:17 It goes on for centuries.
10:20 You are absolutely right.
10:22 The requirement of international cricket is that if you are a genuine fast bowler,
10:26 you should be able to make 25-30 runs for the team.
10:30 And in the last season of my domestic, I made 30-35 runs for the team.
10:37 I also practiced a lot for Australia.
10:40 But the thing is, what do you need for the team?
10:44 If you are playing with a genuine batsman,
10:48 your responsibility is to not lose your wicket for no reason.
10:52 So my attempt was that when I was batting with Amir Jamal,
10:56 because he is an all-rounder, he is a better batsman than me.
11:02 So my responsibility was that as far as I can stay with Amir,
11:08 the team will benefit.
11:11 I could have made runs, but at that time, I think the team's requirement was not that
11:16 I should go and make runs myself because Amir was already making runs.
11:19 And I think that was the right decision for me.
11:23 That's why we established a record partnership there.
11:26 On this ground, you were playing against New Zealand,
11:29 and you were beating them, but you were not getting wickets.
11:32 And in the first day of your bowling in Melbourne,
11:36 you were not getting that much success.
11:39 So it felt like, "This match is coming to an end.
11:42 I might not get another match in my career."
11:45 If I tell you the truth, on record,
11:49 when I was playing the match in Melbourne,
11:52 in the morning, I told myself,
11:56 "Amir Hamza, this is your last match.
11:59 If you perform in this, then you will continue.
12:03 If you don't perform, then you have no excuse to play further."
12:07 Because I had already played two test matches in January last year.
12:12 I didn't bowl out.
12:13 No doubt, if I have bowled well, but in the end, the result counts
12:16 how many teams you have bowled out for.
12:19 So I considered this opportunity to be my last opportunity.
12:22 And let me tell you one more thing.
12:24 When I bowled well against New Zealand,
12:27 a close friend of mine told me,
12:29 "You are very unlucky in international cricket."
12:33 When I bowled well in the first match in Melbourne,
12:36 my close friend called me and said,
12:39 "I think luck is not on your side in international cricket."
12:44 So when I bowled three outs the next day, I called him myself.
12:47 I told him, "You can see, my cricket victory has started from here."
12:52 He was very happy.
12:54 He is my close friend and my companion.
12:57 I was unlucky in international cricket,
13:00 but Alhamdulillah, my victory has started.
13:02 PSL is coming.
13:03 Everyone is waiting for PSL.
13:05 PSL's last edition.
13:06 You could have bowled an over.
13:08 And then you got injured, if I am not wrong.
13:11 You got injured in the first match.
13:13 How was that moment?
13:14 And now PSL is coming.
13:16 Because you have this golden opportunity.
13:18 You have been branded as a red ball bowler.
13:21 Do you think you can open the door for a white ball?
13:23 Shoaib bhai, I will talk about the last PSL.
13:26 When we were playing the first match,
13:29 we did a few days of net practice before the first match.
13:32 And we did a warm-up on that day.
13:34 So in that net practice, our team director,
13:40 Waseem Akram, was watching us.
13:43 And he was watching me even in the warm-up.
13:46 So he called me and said,
13:49 "Mir Hamza, you don't need to warm up much.
13:52 Your body is looking like a ball swing."
13:55 He said, "I am sure that you will get good bowling figures in this PSL.
14:03 And the team will benefit a lot."
14:04 He said, "You should rest now.
14:06 You don't need to gain confidence in the warm-up."
14:09 So I think I was in a very good form.
14:13 But unfortunately, I got injured in the first over.
14:17 I think I did good bowling in the second over.
14:20 But when I went back home after the injury,
14:23 I couldn't believe that I got injured in the first 2-3 days.
14:26 And secondly, I didn't watch any PSL match.
14:30 Because when I used to watch the match,
