00:00 George Clinton!
00:02 [cheers]
00:14 And now more than ever in the world, we need music that brings us all together.
00:22 And nobody's music brings us all together quite like this brother, bringing us together, one nation, under a groove!
00:33 [cheers]
00:36 Fast forward to 1985, and I had started a little baby band of my own.
00:40 And we were going nowhere slowly, which was fine, because we were having fun doing it.
00:45 And the record company came to us and they said, "Boys, if you could have anyone on earth produce your next record, who would that be?"
00:54 And Flea and I looked at each other and we said, "George Clinton."
00:57 [cheers]
00:59 You know, which is, you know, good luck, right?
01:01 For me personally, George became an instant friend, a teacher, a mentor, a father figure, a co-conspirator, an instigator.
01:11 And honestly, a conductor of alien enterprises, truth be told.
01:17 And that record was called Freaky Stolly, produced by George Clinton.
01:21 [cheers]
01:23 And the rest was history.
01:25 [cheers]
01:30 I now declare today George Clinton Day in Hollywood!
01:34 [cheers]
01:38 The World Funk Headquarters was our office on Vine.
01:41 I know what it means to see these names on the street, see these stars.
01:46 I've often looked at them and was dreaming that one day I might be down here myself.
01:52 Even though I hung out on this street, up to no good, y'all.
01:57 I see a lot of faces that I remember.
02:00 One thing I realize is that there is not a single name on this street that did it by themselves.
02:08 There are so many that I stand on that I can't name them all.
02:15 But for each and every one of you, I give thanks.
02:18 Knowing that the foundation of this career, the fuel for this journey, while my name is the one you read,
02:26 it is all of your energies that helped us get through this effort.
02:32 [cheers]
02:33 Welcome the newest rocker, famer, George Clinton!
02:38 [cheers]
02:46 Damn!
02:48 [cheers]
