Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is reorganizing the company's AI teams to accelerate research into artificial general intelligence. Meta currently has two AI teams - Fundamental AI Research and a team focused on generative AI experiences. These will be brought closer together under the reorganization. Zuckerberg aims to support the goals of building AGI, open-sourcing it responsibly, and making it useful for people in their daily lives. Zuckerberg believes advances in AGI will also help progress on Meta's vision of the metaverse. By the end of the decade, he expects people to frequently talk to AI assistants using smart glasses.
