U.S launches fresh strikes in Yemen targeting Houthi anti-ship missiles | Red Sea attacks | Oneindia

The US military conducted fresh strikes in Yemen on Tuesday, targeting anti-ship ballistic missiles in a region controlled by Houthi rebels. Simultaneously, a Greek-owned vessel in the Red Sea was hit by a missile. Houthi militia, aligned with Iran, has been carrying out attacks on ships since November, causing concerns among major powers. These incidents coincide with the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestinian Hamas militants in Gaza. The Houthis claim to act in solidarity with Palestinians and have threatened to extend attacks to include US ships in response to American and British strikes on their positions in Yemen. The attack by the U.S came as the Houthis reportedly struck a Maltese-flagged bulk carrier during the skirmish and a day after Houthi forces hit the U.S.-owned and operated dry bulk ship Gibraltar Eagle with an anti-ship ballistic missile.
