A super-fan had an Only Fools and Horses inspired funeral - with his coffin being transported by Del Boy's three-wheel van.

John Nunn, who died suddenly at the age of 74, was a huge fan of the classic British sitcom.

After he had passed in October last year, Ellie Nunn, 40, and her sisters got together to decide on the arrangements of their dad's funeral.

As they researched online they came across 'Only Fools and Hearses' funeral service.

Ellie, of Reading, Berkshire, said: "Myself and my sisters came up with the idea of the Only Fools and Horses funeral due to searching for ideas online.

"As soon as we saw it, we knew it would be a fantastic idea. He would have been looking down laughing as he was a huge fan of Only Fools and Horses.

"He watched the reruns on TV all the time and had all the DVDs, lots of books and even a Del Boy soft toy."

Ellie consulted their mum, Linda Nunn, 71, and she was on board straight away.

She said: "We spoke to mum about it and showed her some videos of the hearse and she said 'That’s him!'' So we went ahead and contacted Darren at 'Only Fools and Hearses'.

"He talked us through everything. We even had the theme music playing on the way to the crematorium.

"We can't thank Darren enough for his help. He gave us the perfect service and we were so pleased for what he did for our dad."

On the day of the funeral, the response to the hearse was fantastic and many onlookers and passersby were so happy to see it.

Ellie said: "While following the hearse in the family car, I saw many people look and smile. Some people beeped their horns and gave our dad a thumbs up.

"When we arrived at the crematorium everyone mentioned how wonderful they thought it was. It was the perfect tribute to a wonderful man."

Before his passing, John had spent just under two weeks at the Royal Berkshire Hospital ICU.

Ellie and her family have since set up a donation page in memory of John to improve the facilities in the family room at the hospital.

Ellie said: ""Our dad was a true family man he loved being a dad, a grandad and a great grandad. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

"We knew while we were spending so much time at the ICU ward that we wanted to fundraise to try and improve the family room for families like us.

"We want to make it more comfortable and maybe buy a TV or a sofa for the room as at the moment it’s a room with just hard chairs."
