Saira Hussain, the first female cyclist from Gilgit-Baltistan, took home multiple honors and gold medals. Saira started her journey across the country on a bicycle from Skardu. Saira went on to say that it is quite difficult to begin a journey from an area where there is little awareness of cycling fitness.
At the beginning of the Saira trip, she received criticism from people, but once the results were in, people began to stand by her. Saira received a scholarship from Sports Quota to finish her degree. Further, Saira added while talking to UrduPoint anchor Hira Naveed that, sadly, Pakistan has very little competition when it comes to cycling. Saira rides her bicycle instead of utilizing a car or any other vehicle for the betterment of climate change.
