Taiwan's Vice-President and Democratic Progressive Party Candidate Lai Ching-te will become the country's new president in May, after winning the country's election. He took 40% of the vote, beating opposition candidate Hou Yu-ih of the Kuomintang and Ko Wen-je of the Taiwan People's Party.
