00:00 Welcome back to Pinoy MD!
00:02 Of course, we will welcome our Obstetrician Gynecologist, Doc Q,
00:06 to answer some of the questions you sent us on our Facebook page.
00:12 Good morning to you, Doc Q!
00:14 Good morning to our beloved ones and good morning, Connie!
00:18 Here's the first question.
00:19 What can we drink to lower or weaken our menstruation?
00:24 This question is from Fernie Sara De Los Santos.
00:29 There's a medicine for heavy menstrual bleeding.
00:33 But before you drink that, you should consult with your doctor
00:37 to know why your menstrual bleeding is heavy.
00:40 Because there's a medicine that can stop or weaken your bleeding.
00:46 But that's not the medicine that can cause your bleeding to be strong.
00:51 Next question is from Lori Viola.
00:53 What should be the annual checkup with OB-GYN for senior citizens?
00:58 Shouldn't you get a pap smear if you have menopause?
01:03 The current recommendation, Lori, is if you're 65 years old
01:07 and you've had 3 consecutive pap smears,
01:10 you don't need a pap smear for the previous negative years.
01:13 However, if you had a problem with your previous pap smear,
01:18 you still need a yearly checkup or as recommended by your gynecologist.
01:26 Next question is from Rose R.
01:29 Is it normal to have a 5-day heart attack with a smelly discharge
01:35 that sometimes turns red and white?
01:38 The most common reason for having pain and foul-smelling discharge
01:44 with bloodstains is infection.
01:47 If you're sexually active or your partner is sexually active with other partners,
01:53 then you're at risk of developing an infection.
01:57 Second, it can be malignancy.
01:59 If there's a problem with the matrix or the lining of the matrix,
02:03 you need to check it first to make sure that it's not the reason.
02:08 If it's just an infection, there are proper medicines that can be given to you.
02:13 And here's another question.
02:14 Is there a home remedy for dysmenorrhea?
02:18 This is a question from Tami A.
02:20 There are many home remedies, but it's not guaranteed to get rid of your pain.
02:26 If the pain of dysmenorrhea is progressive or severe,
02:32 there might be other reasons inside that you need to check first
02:37 so that you can be given the proper medicine.
02:40 But if we're talking about home remedies,
02:42 you can put a warm compress over your lower abdomen.
02:47 We also have analgesics that you can drink.
02:51 Like for example, paracetamol or methenamic acid and other anti-inflammatory,
02:56 non-steroidal drugs.
02:58 You can drink those.
02:59 Exercise might also help.
03:01 And also, avoid caffeine and cola drinks because these can aggravate your dysmenorrhea.
03:07 Thank you so very much, Doc Q, for answering our questions.
03:11 Please send your questions to our Facebook page.
03:15 And maybe next time, you'll have questions to read.
