00:00 As we head into the second week of January 2024, people are maintaining New Year's resolutions and goals and settling into a new routine after the Christmas period.
00:11 Manchester has a busy year ahead as a number of new developments and events are coming to the city region, making it a big year for the area.
00:20 We asked people in Manchester what they would like to see happen in 2024.
00:25 To be fair, I do actually love what's going on in Manchester already. We visited the new Factory International recently.
00:33 It was amazing. We went to see Free Your Mind, which was absolutely brilliant. I know Joe Wicks is coming up there soon.
00:40 I love going to the theatre and the cinema and things like that.
00:44 One thing we have been saying about, we were looking at getting out of the office in the afternoon and doing a walk around town, getting some steps up, getting away from your desk.
00:55 Maybe more places to visit or to go and sit at lunchtime to get you out of the office. That might be quite nice.
01:04 Green spaces, honestly, I can appreciate that you have to build the city up. However, I'm thinking more green spaces would be really nice.
01:12 Manchester is quite cultural and with a lot of art. So maybe a bit more, it's never too much, isn't it?
01:19 Yeah, a bit more support. I see many lonely, alone people. Maybe some more groups that put together people. Community groups, yes.
01:32 And yeah, affordable housing. Housing is really something that's needed.
01:38 More cycle lanes, which I go with that as well.
01:40 More cycle lanes, you like to see more cycle lanes?
01:42 Yeah, I use the ones that are here and I'd have them everywhere if I could.
01:46 It's an ongoing project and yeah, I'd have them everywhere, like I said. I think they're great and it encourages people to get back cycling.
01:55 And that's evident in the south of the city where they've come through from the student area. So it'd be nice to see them everywhere.
02:03 I'm very impressed with the way it's going on really now. I get great pleasure walking around in the city centre and seeing all the new developments taking place.
02:11 And a bit better weather might help, I think, apart from that. But no, I think it's got a lot going for it and I think it can only get better, I think.
02:20 So I'm quite happy. I can't think of one thing I'd like to change, I don't think, or needs changing anyway.
02:27 I still think there's a lot of exciting things going on in the city. Obviously, Co-op Live's opening, first full year of Factory International.
02:36 I saw on Instagram yesterday about all the different restaurants that are opening. So I actually think as a city, there's still a lot to celebrate and I just think as a city it's going to get better and better.
