Mohamed Salah MISSES Another Penalty But Has Blushes Spared after the Shot Crashes Off the Crossbar

Mohammad Salah came close to missing another penalty after hitting the crossbar and relying on the ball to rebound off the goalkeeper's backside into the back of the net.

The Liverpool superstar linked up with the Egyptian national team for the African Cup of Nations, which will get underway next weekend.

Egypt - who reached the final of the continental competition last time out - took on Tanzania in a friendly on Sunday night to aid their preparations.

Egypt beat Tanzania 2-0 in their final warm-up game before their opening clash with the Ivory Coast next weekend. However, it wasn't Salah's best performance.

Salah started the game well, providing Mahmoud 'Trezeguet' Hassan with the ball for Egypt's opening goal in the 33rd minute of the game.

He helped Egypt dominate possession but failed to create much upfront. However, his moment to shine came when Egypt was awarded a penalty.

Salah then stepped up to take the spot kick after Omar Marmoush was brought down in the penalty area in the 71st minute of the game.

The Egypt international was looking to make a statement after coming under fire for his penalty-taking form at Liverpool, but he struggled to hit the target.

He took a lengthy runup and looked to fire the ball into the top right-hand corner. However, he couldn't keep it down.

As a result, the ball pinged off the crossbar and looked as though it would go down as another miss on Salah's penalty-taking record.

However, thankfully for the Egyptian international, the ball hit the backside of the goalkeeper (who had dived in the correct direction) and bounced into the net.

Salah looked relieved but a little embarrassed about how the goal had come about. Nevertheless, Egypt celebrated their second goal of the goal.

Salah's status as Liverpool's undisputed penalty taker was threatened after he missed a penalty against Newcastle on Monday night.

Salah had the opportunity to break the deadlock when Luis Diaz was taken down inside the box. However, his spot kick was saved by Martin Dubravka.

Salah did make amends by scoring a second attempt later in the game. However, that didn't convince the fans - who had taken to social media to criticize him.

They highlighted that fact Salah had missed against Arsenal in April during a 2-2 draw and how Neto denied him in March during a 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth.
