Walking the labyrinth
Face cast downward.
Looking up reveals length to go
And dispels the mystic glow
And burn of looking inward.
Looking downward I see today --
Inside a mere few inches before me
Is today and that is enough.
I cannot see the center
But know it's there — waiting.
Looking downward is to recognize
That time is irrelevant
For the upward glance
Nurtures sour impatience.
Sacred switchback
The path meanders in curved
Parallels to another --
Where walks another
Toward the center
Or emerges from there
Before or after me --
