Birmingham headlines 22nd December: Gunman jailed for life, serious concerns over police force, and titanic turkey tips the scales
A Birmingham gunman has been jailed for life for fatally shooting a man he arranged to meet near St Andrews Stadium. Damaine Sculley will serve a minimum of 30 years for the murder of Tyrone Dorsett. The reason for the 'point blank' shooting remains unknown but the meeting was likely arranged to conduct serious criminality, Birmingham Crown Court heard.

Next - Serious concerns have been raised by an inspectorate about West Midlands Police. Graded on eight areas, His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services found the force was adequate in two areas, and requires improvement and inadequate in three areas respectively.

And finally - you'll need a boatload of cranberry sauce for this one! Wigginton Fields Farm in Tamworth has produced one of the biggest turkeys in the West Midlands this Christmas. Weighing in at a whopping 17kilo or two and a half stone, the giant is one of the biggest the farm has had, according to farmer Edward Calcott.
