Leeds headlines 18 December: a man is in hospital after River Aire incident

A man was taken to hospital in a critical condition after being rescued from the River Aire in Leeds. The casualty was rushed to hospital after the incident shortly before midnight on December 17 off Armouries Way in the city centre.

Next, and a boy from Leeds was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a stabbing in the early hours of Saturday morning. The 16-year-old was attacked near an underpass more than two hundred miles away in Southampton. Hampshire Constabulary has launched an investigation into the attack.

And finally, Homeless Street Angels has launched its annual Christmas rucksack appeal, collecting gifts that will be handed out to rough sleepers on Christmas Eve. They will also be provided with a Christmas dinner, as well as the usual essential supplies.
