Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy has been diagnosed with acute appendicitis and is scheduled to have surgery Wednesday afternoon, the team announced. McCarthy was experiencing abdominal pain earlier in the day that warranted further evaluation. He is expected to be released from the hospital Wednesday and is anticipated to return before Week 14’s Sunday night game against the Eagles. Dallas’s coordinators will run practice until McCarthy returns.
