The US economy is expected to slow significantly in 2024, with GDP growth projected to be around 1% according to a survey from the National Association for Business Economics. Around 3 in 4 economists surveyed by N.A.B.E. put the odds of a recession in the next year at 50% or less. Inflation is expected to continue moderating but remain above the Fed's 2% target through the end of 2024. US manufacturing has now contracted for 13 consecutive months according to the latest data. The jobs market remains strong with nonfarm payrolls forecast to rise by 180,000 in November and the unemployment rate to hold steady at 3.9%.
