Firefighters crawl across frozen lake - to rescue a stranded deer.

Crews from the Prior Lake Fire Department in Prior Lake, Minnesota, USA, were called to Pike Lake.

The animal could not stand up on the slippery surface of the ice so the firefighters used poles to push it to the edge.

Prior Lake Fire Department arrived after receiving calls from neighbours regarding the deer.

The city of Prior Lake said on Instagram: "Neighbors called PLFD to report a deer stuck on Pike Lake.

"It was struggling to get off of the thin ice. Firefighters put on their protective gear and carefully crawled across the ice.

"They were successfully able to push the deer to shore.''
