Jaime Gil & Diego Calvo's Fatal Crash @ Rallye Villa de Llanes 2021

Two Spanish rallymen were killed on Saturday, 25 September 2021, during the seventh special stage "Altu El Fitu", in Asturias province, of the 44th edition of the Rallye Villa de Llanes, a round of both the Spanish Rally Superchampionship and the Asturias Rally Championship.

A blue Seat Marbella GT #131 driven by Jaime Gil Vitoria, 39, and co-driven by Diego Calvo González, 30, entered by La Trazada Sport in the Asturias Rally Championship went out of control and crashed into a stone bridge wall. The accident happened at 15h15 at the 12.7-km of the AS260 road. Despite the immediate intervention of the medical team, both driver and co-driver were killed instantly.

Following the fatal accident, the rally was suspended and a minute's silence was observed, to honor the deceased racers' memory.

Jaime Gil Vitoria was born in 1982 in Guriezo, Cantabria, northern Spain. He participated in rallies since 2019, making his debut in the Rallysprint de Miengo. His best finish was 38th place in Rallysprint de Cóbreces that same year.

Diego Calvo González was born in 1991 in Castro Urdiales, Cantabria, northern Spain. He raced for four years, with a best finish of 20th place in 2018 in two rallies, the Rallysprint Buelna-Cieza and the Rallysprint de Toranzo-Anievas-Iguña, co-driving to Juan Manuel Rey Tirilonte.
