00:00 She raced for many years when she needed a home.
00:03 I'm Cleopatra and this is Diva's story for GOB.
00:06 Winston was our first greyhound.
00:09 And after 11 months, we felt like it was the right time
00:12 to adopt another greyhound.
00:15 So we contacted one adoption agency
00:17 and they sent us through a video of Diva.
00:22 She was racing for three years.
00:23 They brought her to Victoria to race,
00:26 but unfortunately she injured her right back leg
00:29 and we adopted her.
00:31 It took her around two weeks to get fully settled
00:33 and then her real personality started to come through.
00:36 She is a very active greyhound.
00:41 Loves her toys, loves to play fetch.
00:43 Diva!
00:44 And she's definitely a daddy's girl.
00:48 She got along really well with Winston.
00:50 He actually leaned his head on her
00:52 and that's when I was like, he's accepting her
00:54 and they have to get along.
00:56 It's not just about us.
00:57 We need it to work for everyone.
00:59 She looks so goofy when she's sleeping.
01:02 She has all her teeth exposed
01:04 and her eyes are rolling back.
01:06 I have gone over when we first got her
01:08 to touch her to see if she actually was breathing.
01:10 She trusts me from the start.
01:12 I would like file her nails
01:14 and she never had a problem with that.
01:16 The adoption place said she seemed like a diva.
01:19 And so then I was like, okay, like Diva's good.
01:21 But her name was Jennifer before.
01:23 We've actually been told by so many people
01:25 that with her ears pointy,
01:27 she looks like a Tasmanian tiger.
01:29 And I can't unsee that.
01:31 And when she's got her ears back,
01:33 that she looks like Sid from Ice Age.
01:35 And which I also agree with.
01:36 It's really funny.
01:37 There's nothing better than when I've had
01:39 a really stressful day at work
01:41 and I come home and dogs just greet me.
01:44 I have that interaction with them.
01:45 I forget about everything else that's happened before.
01:48 And I'm just so happy to be in their company.
01:50 It's amazing that the Greyhounds can do that.
01:52 - He's a happy boy.
01:53 - It's quite sad when Winston passed away
01:57 in May, we were heartbroken.
01:59 What was more heartbreaking was seeing how Diva was.
02:02 She lost all interest in her daily activities.
02:05 She would just have this sadness in her eyes
02:07 and she would just sit on the couch.
02:09 She refused to eat.
02:10 And we were like, we need to open our hearts
02:12 and our home to another Greyhound.
02:14 So Byron actually saw Bobo's profile
02:17 on the Greyhound adoption site.
02:19 And he was a senior.
02:21 He had been in the home for five years,
02:23 but unfortunately he got returned
02:25 because they were moving and they couldn't take him.
02:27 Tyrone told me it's probably gonna be a lot harder
02:28 for him to find a family.
02:30 So we put Bohemond on hold and at the meet and greet
02:33 when they let him out, we were really excited.
02:36 And so was Diva.
02:37 It was really sweet to see her tail wagging.
02:39 She's definitely the type of dog that needs another dog.
02:42 They love each other's company.
02:46 It's just the best thing ever, happy and free.
