OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Seeks More Funding from Microsoft to Push Boundaries of AI Development
  • 5 months ago
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman plans to secure more funding from Microsoft, its biggest investor, to support the high costs of developing more advanced AI models. Altman aims to eventually create artificial general intelligence (AGI) on par with human intelligence. OpenAI announced new developer tools and upgrades, including custom ChatGPT versions and a marketplace for apps using GPT, and is working on the next-generation GPT-5 model, though capabilities are still unknown. Securing Nvidia chips has been challenging but supply is expected to improve. Altman believes a key challenge is figuring out how to get AI systems to make fundamental leaps in understanding beyond just ingesting more data.
