People who, following an accident or illness, have lost the functional use of their upper limbs, live in a state of considerable physical and moral dependence. The functional independence, life, and privacy of these people have long been closely linked to the exclusive action of third parties or life support. For several years, new research has focused on compensation for the paralysis of the upper limbs of these people. Progress in computing, electronics and robotics, particularly with regard to miniaturization, has enabled the creation of a remotely manipulated arm called "MANUS". This technical assistance allows, in conjunction with human assistance, to reduce the dependence of these seriously disabled people.
