Gilbert Richard's Fatal Crash @ West-East-Raid 1992 (Aftermath)

Gilbert Richard was the driver of a Tatra assistance truck of Team Toyota, entered in the 1992 West-East Raid, Paris-Moscow-Beijing. On Monday, 07 September of that year, during the fifth stage of the raid, between Saratov and Uralsk in territory of Russia, the truck overturned due to an oil patch on the road.

Severely injured, Gilbert Richard was airlifted to Clamart suburb of Paris where he succumbed two days later to his injuries.

Another accident which happened during the 10th leg of the raid, in territory of Turkmenistan, left Ambrogio Fogar who co-drove to Giacomo Vismara's Range Rover, paralyzed from the neck down. He died 13 years later, in consequence of the injuries suffered in the crash.
