Bruno Fernandes Suffered as Footage Emerges of His Tunnel After Champions League Loss

Copenhagen forward Mohamed Elyounoussi has hit out at Bruno Fernandes for his attempts to influence the referee in the Danish side's 4-3 Champions League victory against Manchester United.

The former Southampton star was one of six scorers on the night in an enthralling game that had goals, a sending-off, and two contentious penalty decisions.

United came after the break and restored their lead following Copenhagen's stunning first-half recovery from a two-goal deficit. The spot kick was dispatched by Fernandes who, according to Elyounoussi, has a habit of 'whining' to the officials.

The 29-year-old was seen in an exchange with the Portuguese midfielder, in which he sought to clarify post-match content.

'I think everyone who has seen United and who has seen him knows that he is a player who is always with the referees complaining and whining,' he said.

'I tried to get him away from the referee. I said: "It’s done". It was nothing more than that. I don’t like players who go forward and try to influence the referees.'

Wednesday's tie positively began for the away side as Rasmus Hojlund's brace gave them a commanding 2-0 advantage.

But Copenhagen found a route back into the game following the dismissal of Marcus Rashford for serious foul play. It was back on level terms before the end of a lengthy period of stoppage time through Elyounoussi and Diogo Goncalves.

Despite the setback, United looked confident after the break and managed to regain the lead with Fernandes's penalty. But late efforts from Lukas Lerage and Roony Bardghji clinched the victory.

United's loss leaves them bottom of the group after four games ahead of fixtures against Galatasaray and Bayern Munich.

A dejected Fernandes was spotted with his head in his hands at the Parken Stadium. He admitted that the mood in the dressing room was 'not the best' but defended their effort in defeat.

'It is difficult at the moment,' he told TNT Sports. 'the mood is not the best because I think we fought so hard with ten men that even from then on it was playing against a team that plays well on the ball, and as a part of that, many decisions went against us.

'Today was a tough day but I think the team effort was good. We tried. We could have done some things better, but it was difficult for us from thirty minutes on, playing with one player less.'

Ten Hag's side next face a trip to Turkey in matchday five knowing another loss will end their knockout round qualification hopes. However, victory in their final two games should be enough to grab a spot in the top two and Fernandes revealed that belief remains within the camp of doing just that.

'Even before this game, that was still the belief: to win the last three games of the group stage,' He added. 'And now we have to.

'We have to win them. If we want to stay in the Champions League and stay in the best competition, we have to win against the best.'
