Occidental Petroleum Surpasses Analyst Expectations with $1.18 EPS in Q3

Occidental Petroleum reported a $1.18 a share profit for the third quarter beating analysts' estimates of $0.84 a share, while adjusted earnings fell more than half compared to the same quarter last year. The company's average oil sale price in the third quarter was $80.70 per barrel, down from $83.64 per barrel a year ago but up 10% from the second quarter. Occidental continues to redeem Berkshire Hathaway's preferred shares from its 2019 Anadarko acquisition, bringing year-to-date redemptions to 15% of the initial $10 billion investment.
