Nextdoor Faces Economic Challenges, Lays Off 25% of Staff

Nextdoor, a neighborhood-centric social media platform headquartered in San Francisco, laid off 25% of its staff as it looks to weather economic challenges facing the tech industry. Nextdoor CEO Sarah Friar announced the layoffs in a third-quarter earnings report, calling it "the hardest decision we have had to make as a team." Based on an SEC filing last year, the 25% cut represents around 176 out of 704 employees losing their jobs. Nextdoor reported 40.4 million weekly active users in its recent quarter, $56 million in revenue, and a $38 million net loss. Friar said the layoffs and other cuts should allow Nextdoor to "reach quarterly free cash flow breakeven" by the end of 2025.
