Egyptian migrants are being boarded on buses to be driven back to the Egyptian border as Libya's Tripoli-based Directorate of Combatting Illegal Migration (DCIM) has started deporting about 600 undocumented Egyptian migrants. The North African country has become a hub for tens of thousands of migrants seeking to reach Europe by sea every year. According to the IOM, more than 700,000 migrants were present on Libyan territory between May and June 2023.
