The Gondwana Ganatantra party had made waves in Madhya Pradesh in 2003 by winning 3 assembly seats including Amarwara in the Chhindwara district, considered the stronghold of Congress stalwart Kamal Nath.

However, subsequently the party lost its clout due to factionalism and many of its leaders joining the ruling BJP in the state.

This year, the GGPs Devraven Bhalavi is seeking to restore the party to its former glory on the strength of an alliance with the BSP. He is set to face Monika Batti, the daughter of former GGP leader Manmohan Shah Batti, who has been fielded by the BJP this time.
