Archana Sharma, the Congress candidate from Jaipur’s Malviya Nagar constituency in the upcoming Rajasthan assembly polls, defended the Ashok-Gelhot government over the allegations over rising crime against women in the state and failing to tackle the water crisis.

Talking to Outlook’s Shreya Basak on the campaign trail, Sharma said the government had expedited cases of crime against women, while accusing the centre of not cooperating with Rajasthan government’s water-related projects. The Congress candidate alleged that her main opponent, BJP’s three-time sitting MLA Kalicharan Saraf, had “institutionalised” corruption in the constituency.
