WanaBana Fruit Pouches May Contain Dangerous Levels of Lead, FDA Warns
  • 6 months ago
Federal health officials are warning parents and caregivers not to buy or feed children WanaBana apple cinnamon fruit purée pouches because they may contain elevated levels of lead. After four children in North Carolina were found to have elevated blood lead levels, tests by health officials found "extremely high concentrations of lead" in samples of the fruit purée, which the FDA says these lead levels "could result in acute toxicity." WanaBana agreed to voluntarily recall all of its apple cinnamon fruit purée pouches, regardless of expiration date. Parents with children who consumed the pouches should get their blood lead levels tested by a healthcare provider.
