Thirty West Midlands Police stations to close in cost cutting measure

At least 30 West Midlands Police stations are to close. The force say ten stations will remain accessible to the public. The police force clarified that they are required to achieve savings of £28 million in the fiscal year 2023/24 and an additional £21 million in the subsequent year. In response, they plan to introduce a combination of newly constructed or renovated facilities.

Bus operator National Express, has announced the £2 price cap on fares will stay in place until the end of the year. The price cap introduced by the government was expected to end in October.

Three people have beenarrested in UK-bound small boat smuggling probe. A 53-year-old Birmingham man, suspected of coordinating with gangs for payments and boat spaces, was apprehended in Sutton Coldfield. The National Crime Agency (NCA) also seized phones and cash.
