00:02 - All right, you mentioned Curtis Samuel.
00:07 So let's have this conversation.
00:09 Curtis Samuel sits at wide receiver 37, 38 at the Giants.
00:13 Rasheed Rice wide receiver 39 against the Chargers.
00:16 So here's the thing, you know, Howell's gonna get hurried.
00:19 We talk about all the weapons.
00:20 We did a nice piece on McLaurin.
00:22 Is it Samuel or does Rasheed Rice find himself
00:25 somewhere in between say Sky Moore and Nicole Hardman
00:28 with regards to desirability?
00:30 How do you lean here?
00:32 - I'm gonna lean towards Curtis Samuel.
00:34 He's got three touchdowns in three games.
00:35 He's also had a pretty solid floor here.
00:38 Seven catches, six catches, four catches.
00:40 But again, he's been a part of the offense.
00:42 He's getting the targets.
00:43 If you look at the target volume for him, eight, seven, four.
00:45 I know it's only four targets against Atlanta.
00:47 That was kind of a sloppy game though.
00:49 I think when you look at Rice,
00:51 you see the red zone targets going up.
00:53 But I know it was a good game against Denver
00:55 where he had 72 receptions.
00:57 But again, it's against Denver.
00:58 Charges aren't great defensively either.
01:01 But Denver is so bad.
01:02 I think that inflated his numbers just a little bit.
01:04 You look so far at the touchdown number two,
01:06 he's got two on the year.
01:07 He's got one in the last three games.
01:09 Curtis Samuel's been a little bit more effective.
01:11 I think a little bit more usage on the field too.
01:13 So give me Curtis Samuel over Rasheed Rice.
01:15 And the Hardman thing too, it's gonna complicate things
01:18 because Hardman does know this offense.
01:20 Hardman does have a rapport with Patrick Mahomes.
01:23 You know, he is a wide receiver 50 type guy.
01:26 But that's just annoying enough
01:28 that if you have shares of Sky Moore, Rasheed Rice,
01:30 and you're hoping in the second half,
01:32 one of those guys really picked up,
01:34 it's gonna hamper it.
01:35 It's gonna hurt it.
01:36 It's gonna be tough.
01:37 He's still not the answer.
01:38 The Chiefs have some soul searching to do here
01:41 in the off season.
01:41 Because they're getting into that same pattern
01:43 where it's like, "Oh, Patrick Mahomes
01:44 "can make everybody great.
01:46 "Patrick Mahomes doesn't need Tyreek Hill on stuff."
01:48 You know what, it helps.
01:49 It helps a lot.
01:50 One of the things that Tom Brady got frustrated with
01:52 at the end of his New England career
01:54 was not having elite talent around him
01:57 and having to make lemonade out of some pretty stinky lemons.
02:01 And then he goes to Tampa,
02:02 and you give him his old buddy Gronk again,
02:05 along with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin,
02:07 he goes and wins the championship.
02:08 So the math isn't hard here.
02:10 Go get Patrick Mahomes some help in a draft
02:12 or a free agency.
02:13 But right now, I understand you put shots
02:15 on some of these young players.
02:17 I think you look at it.
02:18 We wanna give Rice some more time,
02:20 but I don't think the Moore experiments really worked out.
02:22 I don't think Justin Ross is ever gonna really,
02:23 unfortunately, get to a level health-wise
02:25 that we can really believe in him.
02:27 So it's a tough spot.
02:27 It's a really tough spot for Mahomes.
02:29 He's doing a great job of what he has.
