Boo at Twycross Zoo! Jahly the tiger gets in the spooky spirit with a pumpkin party
  • 6 months ago
With Halloween just around the corner, female Sumatran tiger, Jahly, has been getting in the spooky spirit by tucking into a roarsome treat in her state-of-the-art habitat at Twycross Zoo.
The 6-year-old Sumatran tiger has been enjoying her very own ‘pawfect’ pumpkin to celebrate Halloween, which the conservation charity’s keepers filled with one of her favourite treats – chicken.
Sumatran tigers are classed as a Critically Endangered species from Sumatra, Indonesia, with less than 400 individuals left in the wild, due to threats such as habitat loss and poaching. To help protect the species, Twycross Zoo is part of the EAZA Ex-Situ breeding programme, which exists to support and preserve the wild population of the Sumatran tiger.
