Muhammad Amir Yusoff's Fatal Crash @ Dato' Sagor 2022

A spectator was killed after being hit by an out of control race car, during the CCT Battle of Champion touring-car race organised by Yano Autopart at Dato’ Sagor Circuit in Kampung Gajah, Pasir Salak in Perak state, Malaysia.
The accident happened about 15h30 on Saturday, 31 December 2022, when two of the 12 racing cars in the race came into contact, diverting one vehicle off the track. The absence of any protective barriers along the edge of the track meant that the vehicle ploughed at high speed towards a small group of spectators standing in an open area on the right side of the track's first turn. The driver, whose name was not released, could not avoid impact and struck one of them.
The victim Muhammad Amir, aged 32, was treated at the track by medical officers who performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), before being transferred to Changkat Melintang Hospital in Lambor Kanan, Perak, Malaysia, where he died from his chest and head injuries and bleeding in the lungs, one and a half hours after the accident.
During the final lap of the race, Muhammad Amir who was watching the race with other people from the infield, moved closer to the track to record the action, using his mobile phone, standing in a grassy area forbidden to the public. But no one of them was stopped by marshals in time.
The race was immediately red flagged, after the tragedy. This was reported to be the first fatal accident at the Dato’ Sagor circuit, during the nearly ten years of operations of the venue.
Muhammad Amir Mohd Yusoff was a car workshop operator from Assam Kumbang, Taiping in Perak state, Malaysia. He left behind his widow, Nor Idayu Yunus, 29, who was three-months pregnant with their fourth child. The couple had three children aged six years, three years and ten-months.
