RUBY WALSH was left in awe of this racehorse after he saved a trapped jockey from serious injury in a terrifying stall incident.

Cian MacRedmond was stranded upside-down after his mount Dream Today got unsettled ahead of the 5f sprint at the Curragh in Ireland.

But when the stalls opened and the other horses charged out, the eight-year-old gelding remained perfectly still.

For a few awful seconds, apprentice MacRedmond was left helpless - as the threat of a 500kg horse charging over him remained.

But he was fortunately able to get himself the right way up and out of the stalls before the horse moved again.

Legendary jockey Walsh - who knows a thing or two about being unseated - was among those floored by the horse's awareness.

Commenting on Racing TV, he said: "He is so lucky the horse stayed where he did. Pat the horse.

"What a Christian of a horse!

"His leg is caught up on the sides of the stalls - that could have been so nasty.

"We go on about jockeys looking after horses. That is a horse looking after a jockey."

Another who witnessed the incident said: "Not sure I've seen anything like this in all my days going racing."

The Adrian McGuinness-trained Dream Today had been a 28-1 chance in the contest won by 18-1 Tawaazon.
