Glasgow headlines 9 October: Investigation reveals level of scam rental properties on Facebook Marketplace
  • 7 months ago
A new investigation concerning rental property advertisements in Glasgow found that approximately 94 percent of those on Facebook marketplace were scams.

The posts were apparently targeted at students at “too good to be true” prices, asking interested parties to pay a deposit upfront with no option to view the property first.

Scammers were then said to disappear leaving the victims with nowhere to stay.

Next, Glasgow City Council is to trial legal graffiti walls to develop an outlet for street artists.

The project is to be led by two community arts organisations and two council-owned properties in the city centre have already been identified for use.

However, the council will continue to target the removal of sectarian, homophobic, offensive and racist graffiti.

And in other news, Brawsome Bagels in Patrick have revealed to customers they will be permanently closing their doors after 22 years in business.

The owner of the popular food shop said that rising prices and changes in customer spending was to blame, and the business was now unaffordable.
