Buckingham Palace has announced the Queen will spend Christmas at Windsor this year, marking a huge change from her usual tradition of celebrating at Sandringham. This is the second year in a row the Royal Family has been forced to break with the longstanding tradition of Christmas at the Norfolk home, which this year has been cancelled due to the rising threat of the Omicron coronavirus variant. Senior aides have described the decision as “precautionary”. The cancellation means the family will not attend the Christmas morning church service at St Mary Magdalene in Sandringham. It is thought much of the decision was made so that crowds would not gather when the family take their annual walk ...
