Female Hotel Guests Awake to Find Prowler ‘Fondling Their Feet’.
A prowler is reportedly breaking into women's hotel rooms in the Lake Tahoe region and "fondling their feet" as they sleep, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

On both Sunday and Monday morning, two separate female guests reported waking up at around 4.30 a.m. to an intruder in their room touching their feet.

"In both cases, the victim’s rooms were on the ground floor and it is suspected at this time that the suspect entered the rooms via the unsecured exterior screen door," the sheriff's office said in a statement. After waking, guests reported that the intruder left via the screen door. No description of the suspect was shared.

The sheriff's office did not name the hotel but said it is located on the 180 block of Elks Point Road. The Club Wyndham South Shore resort is located on that block in Zephyr Cove, a few miles over the California border from South Lake Tahoe. SFGATE reached out to Wyndham for comment but had not heard back at time of publication.

The sheriff's office advises residents and guests staying in the Lake Tahoe area to secure all exterior doors to their homes and hotel rooms.

Anyone with information is asked to contact investigator Scott Wharton of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at 775-586-7253.
