According to reports, the earthquake hit near Japan’s outlying islands in the Pacific Ocean. Officials said that a potential tsunami could reach one meter in height. The advisory issued was the second-lowest of a four-stage warning system. It instructed people on islands in the Izu chain to stay away from coasts and river mouths.
