Marjorie Taylor Greene Tweets Hanukkah Menorah Image for Yom Kippur.
G’mar chatima tovah. At sundown, it is officially Yom Kippur, the holiest of days on the Jewish calendar.

While Jews around the world prepare for their fast on this solemn Day of Atonement, anti-Semitic lawmaker Marjorie Taylor Greene couldn’t help but weigh in on the holiday.

The Republican congresswoman, who once spread a conspiracy theory that secret Jewish space lasers cause wildfires and was the keynote speaker at an event hosted by avowed Nazi Nick Fuentes, wrote on X (formerly Twitter):

“To all those preparing for the solemn day of Yom Kippur, I wish you a meaningful fast.

Gamar Chasima Tova!”

Many were quick to point out that the congresswoman included an image of a Chanukah menorah, which has nothing to do with Yom Kippur. Some pointed out that it would be similar to a person wishing Christians a Happy Easter along with a photo of a Christmas tree. Additionally, the traditionally accepted greeting on the holiday is “g'mar chatima tovah,” which in Hebrew translates to “a good final sealing” in the Book of Life.

Users of X were quick to express their disgust with the congresswomen’s message and Greene was swiftly ridiculed. She later deleted the tweet and reposted it without the graphic.

Democratic Congressman Jared Moskowitz wrote, “That’s a picture for Chanukah. Different Jewish Holiday. Yom Kippur is where you atone for your sins. Lord knows you will be very busy.”

Political satirist Jeremy Newberger joked, “Hurry up, let's light the Yom Kippur menorah.”

Bill Prady, co-creator of The Big Bang Theory, wrote, “Here we have @RepMTG, the antisemitic genius who screamed about Jewish space lasers, offering us a Hanukkah menorah for Yom Kippur.”

Greene may have deleted her post, but the Internet never forgets.

Anti-Semitism has run rampant in the Republican Party in recent years. Just last week, Donald Trump blamed “Liberal Jews” for “destroying America” and threatened them in an ominous post on his social media platform during Rosh Hashanah.
