Dune: Part Two was originally announced to have a release date of October 2023 before being pushed back to November 17, 2023, only to be brought up to November 3, 2023, soon after. Dune: Part Two was set to be the film's release date for a while, and as it turns out, it was absolutely perfect. This release date was going to give Dune: Part Two IMAX exclusivity, with the film being the only movie to play in IMAX for around six weeks. Dune: Part Two was filmed for IMAX, meaning that it is perfectly suited for this lengthy run.

However, now that Dune: Part Two is no longer releasing on November 17, the film won't have its IMAX exclusivity throughout November and December, upsetting many fans. Due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, many major movies have been delayed by Warner Bros. Discovery due to the company not agreeing to the actors' conditions for fair pay. One of the movies that has been delayed is Dune: Part Two, with the film now releasing on March 15, 2024. This has caused many viewers to worry that Dune: Part Two's perfect release plan is ruined, but that might not be the case.
