Glasgow headlines 27 September: Glasgow has the lowest life expectancy in Scotland, new figures show
  • 7 months ago
New figures published by the Scottish Government suggest the life expectancy in Scotland has dropped, with Glasgow at the lowest for both men and women.

Scottish Labour has said the figures were damning and has called on the SNP to take action.

The Scottish Government said that in Glasgow, they are investing £500 million through a City Regional Deal.

Next, a drug consumption room is set to open in Glasgow’s East End in coming weeks where users will be allowed to take their own drugs under the supervision of NHS health professionals.

The pilot was passed by the Scottish Government in an effort to tackle the country’s high drug death rate.

And in other news, a Jet2 plane flying from Glasgow Airport was forced to emergency land after almost running out of fuel.

The aircraft was making what should have been a two and a half hour journey to Palma De Mallorca, but delays caused by storms meant the fuel reserves were used up.
