00:06 In a significant development that could bring an end to the historic 146-day writer strike,
00:12 the union and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers announced a provisional
00:16 deal on Sunday.
00:17 The WGA negotiating committee informed members, "We have reached a tentative agreement on
00:22 a new 2023 MBA, which is to say an agreement in principle on all deal points, subject to
00:28 drafting final contract language.
00:30 We can say with great pride that this deal is exceptional, with meaningful gains and
00:35 protections for writers in every sector of the membership."
00:38 The parties came to terms on a provisional three-year agreement, which will need to be
00:42 ratified by WGA members to take effect.
00:45 The union's negotiating committee asked for patience during this time, saying, "What remains
00:49 now is for our staff to make sure everything we have agreed to is codified in final contract
00:54 language, and though we are eager to share the details of what has been achieved with
00:58 you, we cannot do that until the last 'I' is dotted."
01:01 In the meantime, the WGA has suspended picketing while reminding members that no one is to
01:06 return to work until the union gives the green light.
