Suzann Pettersen Has a Narrow Escape after Charley Hull's Wayward Approach Shot Almost Struck Her

Charley Hull almost struck Team Europe captain Suzann Pettersen with an approach shot during day two of the Solheim Cup.

Team USA led 7-5 heading into Saturday's afternoon session when Hull took her second shot on the eighth hole with her partner Leona Maguire 3 up against their opponents.

Pettersen showed great reflexes to duck out of the way in time to avoid getting hurt and was followed by a wave from the crowd to indicate that she was fine.

Hull went on to hit a superb approach shot which was followed by a brilliant birdie putt to go three up in the top match.

She endured a frustrating start to the tournament having been left out of Friday's afternoon four-balls, with Pettersen insisting that 'Charley is fine' during the end-of-day press conference.

The 27-year-old entered the Solheim Cup while recovering from a neck injury but always maintained she would be fully fit in time.

Team Europe lost the opening session for the first time since 2009 as Team USA stormed into a 4-0 lead on Friday morning.

Pettersen's side, who are chasing a historic third consecutive victory, fought back strongly to narrow the gap to 5-3 by the end of the day after a much improved showing in the afternoon.

Madelene Sagstrom and Gemma Dryburgh shared the spoils in their fourballs match against Rose Zhang and Megan Khang.
