NFL WEEK 3 PREVIEW: Dallas Cowboys vs Arizona Cardinals
  • 7 months ago
The undefeated Dallas Cowboys (2-0) are heading to the west coast to take on the winless Arizona Cardinals (0-2) on Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM CST.

The offense is starting to click for Dallas, QB Dak Prescott finally got to see the field consistently in their second game against the Jets after the defense took control of almost the entire first game against the Giants in a 40-0 victory. Prescott threw for over 200 yards last week and two touchdowns against the Jets and saw unbelievable connection with WR1 CeeDee Lamb. Lamb finished with 11 catches for 143 yards.

This will be Prescott’s 100 career start for the Cowboys, “It’s a blessing. It really is. Grew up wanting to play this game, and wanting to play this game at its highest level and that’s simply what this league is. To say I have had 99 at bats at it and to say this will be the 100th is pretty cool.”

The Jets have one of the best defenses in the NFL and Prescott did not look phased at all. This week is a different story. The Cardinals secondary gave up over 300 yards and two TD’s last week to the Giants and gave up 21 fourth quarter points for a New York comeback win.

Prescott’s O-line is playing lethal and held off the Giants just fine. The O-line has only given up one sack in the first two games and gives Prescott more than enough time in the pocket. A key player in red Prescott will have to look out for is LB Dennis Gardneck, he has had three sacks in his first two games and the O-line will have to hold him off if they want good production from their QB.

Offensively for the Cardinals QB Joshua Dobbs had a great game against New York. He threw for over 200 yards and one touchdown with zero interceptions. Dobbs will have his hands full with the Cowboy secondary. If you think Trevon Diggs and Stephon Gilmore aren’t enough, Jayron Kearse has also become a problem for opponents.

Dobbs offensive line is playing great as well, only giving up one sack so far this season. But they haven’t met Micah Parsons, Demarcus Lawrence, or Osa Odighizuwa yet. Parsons was named NFC defensive player of the week after his performance against the Jets. He had two sacks on QB Zach Wilson and three so far for the season, and a fumble recovery. Between all three players they have seven sacks…. In two games. The Cowboys are tied with the Washington Commanders for most sacks so far this season with 10. The Cardinals are second with nine.
