Workers move entire Buddhist temple hall using hydraulic pistons

The Wat Pongploy Wiriyaram temple in Bangkok was ordered to be relocated by the abbott as soil subsidence had made the ground unstable.

Relocation began on September 3, with the workers pulling off an impressive feat of engineering to move the building's foundation using a 'temple sliding system'.

The base of the temple ordination hall was placed on several rolling platforms atop steel beams. Using pistons, the entire foundation was then slid a few centimetres each day.
