In its 5th year at New York Fashion Week, Cancer Culture has been making waves by putting patients on the runway. It was co-founded by the late Champagne Joy, who passed away from metastatic breast cancer less than two months after their first show. Co-founders documentarian Beth Fairchild and singer and songwriter Rachel Burns have kept Joy's legacy alive. To date, they have raised more than $280,000 for metastatic breast cancer research. This year, Cancer Culture held its show in collaboration with designer AnaOno, who revolutionizes mastectomy bras by advancing inclusivity and embracing diverse chest sizes and shapes. Following the fashion shows, Burns will host the "Living My Breast Life" show and retreat in Washington, DC, offering survivors and thrivers the chance to sing with a band in a real recording studio and live on stage at Songbyrd Music House on October 17.
