11:05 >> Hi Thomas.
11:06 >> Hi.
11:07 >> You touched earlier on what it takes to earn a place in your starting lineup.
11:10 Erik ten Haag has spoken last week about the standards that he's trying to instill at Manchester United.
11:14 If you've more experience, what are the challenges that that brings as a manager,
11:17 managing such a big club, you know, Chelsea and Bayern Munich,
11:20 and Manchester United in terms of Erik ten Haag?
11:22 >> Well, I felt Man United always like a lot of noise going on around Man United.
11:28 A lot of pundits in the UK are ex-players from Man United.
11:33 So you have this legacy from Sir Alex Ferguson, which creates a lot of pressure,
11:40 which creates a lot of expectations all the time around Manchester United.
11:44 It just tells you if it's like this, it just tells you that you work in a big club,
11:50 with big expectations, with a big name and a big prior success,
11:55 that all of us, me here in Bayern and my colleague in Manchester United,
12:01 we want to achieve the same things, and that comes with a job.
12:07 So I would not say that's an advantage for us.
12:10 I think it's pretty common around Man United that sometimes little things become a bit bigger in this club
12:16 than in any other club, or maybe just the talking about it is a bit more noisy than in other clubs.
12:23 I think within, I can only assume, and what I know, that they coach an environment
12:31 where players can grow, where players can reach their top level.
12:37 This is what we're trying to do, to install principles, to install rules,
12:42 to create a winning culture. This is what we all try to do.
12:47 It's for me also evident to see if I watch a Man United play.
12:55 The results maybe don't speak the same language, but they are a team full of quality
13:01 and a club full of winning culture, so we will never, never underestimate that.
13:08 In the middle, Mark Gabel for RTL.
13:12 Hello, Mr. Tuchel. Even if you're not sitting on the bench tomorrow,
13:15 what is heavier or what is more in the scales,
13:19 what makes the pendulum, the idler, or the other direction fall out?
13:22 That Eric Dehner-Haak, who was coach of the second team here in FC Bayern for two years,
13:26 and knows the interns best, or at least as well as you,
13:29 knows the Premier League and also the opponent Manchester United?
13:32 I think that nowadays, also through the analysis of the game and the analyst team
13:36 and the level we have, and Man United, I don't think there are many surprises.
13:41 And that it makes an advantage for Eric that he trained here in the second team,
13:45 or for me that I was in the Premier League.
13:47 Things are constantly changing, everything is in flux.
13:50 The transfer periods change the style of the teams and so on.
13:57 We feel well prepared. It's not nice that I'm not on the sidelines.
14:01 Of course, a big part of coaching is also live coaching,
14:06 making decisions on the side, who is being replaced,
14:09 who should not be replaced, do we change the system, do we change the details,
14:13 do we change the staff?
14:16 That's definitely something I will miss and hopefully it's not an advantage
14:22 that I'm on the stand. We'll see.
14:26 That should also remain a one-off thing.
14:31 Nevertheless, I have full confidence that the team will be well prepared for tomorrow
14:35 and that my two assistants will coach me top on the sidelines.
14:43 [The question is asked to the right.]
14:58 Hi Thomas. I think a lot of people in England expected Harry Kane
15:02 to be playing in a Manchester United shirt at the start of this summer.
15:05 Were you surprised that United didn't seem to make a big bid for him?
15:10 Or maybe other English clubs, given he's the captain of England
15:13 and the all-time record goalscorer for England. What are your thoughts?
15:16 It's a big thing. We took the skipper out of England, out of Premier League.
15:20 It's a huge deal and a big transfer and we're very happy.
15:26 I think anyone who's looking for a number nine would have been happy to have Harry
15:32 in the team, anyone in Europe, because he makes your team better
15:37 and he gives you what you expect from a number nine – personality, goals, quality.
15:42 He can drop deep. He can drop deep on a number 10 position, turn
15:47 and use the speed of the players around him.
15:52 He can arrive in the box in the right timing. He has excellent finishing.
15:57 He's a good penalty taker, so everybody wanted to have him.
16:03 I'm not sure about what was going on in other clubs, but we're more than happy
16:08 that finally he took the decision to join us and make us better.
16:13 One row behind. Yes, please.
16:16 Hi, Thomas. As the club that got Harry Kane ahead of other clubs,
16:21 such as Manchester United, how much confidence does that give you,
16:24 that he can be the difference-maker in games like this, in this competition?
16:29 He will always be a difference-maker in any game.
16:33 Not only in the big games and not only by goals.
16:39 I think he gives us a lot of personality.
16:42 I think with time he will make our players around him better.
16:46 He will learn how to make them shine. He will learn how to use their skills.
16:52 He will assist also. He will not only score.
16:56 He will be the difference. He is already the difference.
17:00 Not only him, but he is part of us making the difference.
17:04 That is very, very important. That's why we relied heavily on this transfer.
17:11 That's why we had a lot of confidence that we were doing the right thing.
17:15 He will prove us right. I'm 100% convinced. There is no doubt about it.
17:22 Let's go to Curry Howe for Sport1.
17:24 Hello, Mr. Tuchel. You mentioned the energy that came from the bench in the last games.
17:28 Matis Telle came on and scored a goal in the second half.
17:33 Is he ready to play in a game like this or are there still some percentages missing?
17:39 And maybe a second question.
17:41 Did you have to talk to Jo Kimmich after his substitution against Leverkusen?
17:46 No, we didn't.
17:48 We agreed on 60 minutes. If we agree on 60 minutes, we stick to 60 minutes.
17:53 Otherwise, we don't need to agree on anything.
17:55 Jo had a reaction after the game and some problems and pain in training yesterday.
18:02 I think we did everything right to stay in the game.
18:07 Jo wants to stay on the pitch and is full of adrenaline.
18:11 He might forget to take a break in the middle of the game or just play through the pain.
18:18 He doesn't feel it that way. It's understandable and understandable.
18:22 It's not a problem.
18:24 I'm very happy that Matis is here. He is happy that he is here.
18:28 He is under a lot of pressure from the bench.
18:33 It's a weapon at the moment.
18:36 We know that we can win games with him. We know what he can give us from the bench.
18:42 He will get games from the beginners this season.
18:47 At the moment, the question is whether he will like it to play in the Champions League right after the Supercup final.
18:55 Champions League against Man United.
18:57 To play again right away.
19:01 I'm impressed how he put it off after a bad game against Leipzig.
19:07 He showed that he can prepare and score goals for us.
19:14 He is on the right track.
19:16 It's important that we don't take three steps before the next one.
19:21 We have to appreciate that he appreciates it.
19:26 I think he is on the right track.
19:29 Let's go to the last questions.
19:33 You talked about the standards of managing at a big club like Bayern, Chelsea, Dortmund.
19:40 Can you sympathise with Ten Hag and what he has been dealing with with some of the higher profile players at Man United?
19:47 Do you feel like he has dealt with them the best way?
19:50 Is it important that the manager's voice is the most important one at the club?
19:55 I enjoyed working in England a lot.
19:57 The manager's voice is the strongest voice in the club by nature and by culture.
20:02 It was very nice to experience that.
20:07 I will not comment on how he is doing.
20:10 I will never advise any coach or any colleague.
20:14 I have enough to do with my club and my team to keep everyone on track.
20:20 We have to install our beliefs and an environment where we can grow and deliver on the highest level.
20:28 That is what we want.
20:29 We want to push the players.
20:30 We want to assist the players.
20:32 We want to guide the players to fulfil their potential.
20:35 It is on this kind of level their game.
20:38 It will always be their game.
20:40 The top players are the most greedy ones.
20:46 The top players are the easiest ones because they do anything that makes the team come closer to winning.
20:53 I never experienced the biggest problems with the big guys.
21:00 The guys who lead the team know how they do it.
21:06 They have the sense of being good team players and influencing the team with their spirit.
21:13 It was always a pleasure to have them around me and to use them to create a bond and influence the whole dressing room.
21:22 Just talking about leadership, Harry Kane is the England captain.
21:30 I appreciate he has only been here five weeks.
21:32 Have you seen signs during that period of his leadership skills?
21:36 Will he become one of those leading men in the dressing room for you?
21:40 There is no doubt.
21:43 It is also good that all of us speak English and speak English very well.
21:47 There is no lack of communication and no problems in communication.
21:50 Harry has been doing this for years.
21:54 He had Tottenham on his shoulders for almost a decade.
21:58 Year after year, season after season.
22:01 He was never hiding under pressure.
22:03 He was never hiding from pressure.
22:05 He has been doing it for so many years now for the English national team.
22:08 He is doing it in his style, in his way.
22:11 Calm, humble, friendly, very impressive.
22:14 This is how he leads.
22:17 There is not one leadership style and not one leader that you have to be or imitate to lead a group of football players.
22:29 You do this in your very own style.
22:32 He is doing it like he does it and he is not shy to do it here.
22:36 It is not that he becomes a totally different person than in the last years.
22:42 He is the same guy and that is why we wanted him so much to be the same guy.
22:47 Be humble, be nice, be friendly, but be reliable, show personality when it is needed.
22:52 Be calm under pressure.
22:54 That is what he does.
22:56 On the left side, Klaus Bergmann for the DPR.
22:59 How is the staff? Coman and Guerreiro are training together.
23:04 Are they in the squad tomorrow?
23:06 You mentioned that Kimmich had a long medical leave.
23:11 You said there was a reaction.
23:13 Is there a temporary restriction for tomorrow?
23:17 Not at the moment.
23:18 Today it was good.
23:19 I think so.
23:20 It is my last training session.
23:21 I will go back to the training ground to get the last information.
23:26 My last statement is that there is no one at the moment.
23:30 I hope that will stay.
23:32 Kingsley will be in the squad tomorrow after he missed against Leverkusen.
23:36 It is too early for Rafa.
23:38 He has done one and a half training sessions with the team.
23:42 It shows his quality in training.
23:45 But it is after the long break.
23:48 He was gone for months.
23:50 He had a muscle injury.
23:52 It would be irresponsible to have him in the squad tomorrow.
23:56 I think there will be a free seat tomorrow.
24:01 Not only mine, but also in the 20 squad.
24:04 There is only one free seat.
24:07 It sounds like you have got exactly what you were hoping for from Harry Kane.
24:13 Have you got anything that you were not expecting from him?
24:16 What have you learned about him that you did not know before?
24:19 It screams for a funny story, but I cannot remember one right now.
24:26 I am not spontaneous enough to remind myself of a funny story.
24:32 It is like you say, we got what we wanted and what we expected.
24:40 We were following him for years so closely.
24:44 He is a nice guy.
24:47 He is a nice guy. He is a calm guy.
24:49 Everything is good.
24:50 Thank you.
24:52 Thanks for coming.
24:53 See you tomorrow.
24:54 See you tomorrow.
24:55 Thank you, Thomas.
