Inland Rail construction works in are underway in Wangaratta. On 3 July 2023 McConnell Dowell removed the Cusack Street pedestrian bridge to provide sufficient clearance for double-stacked freight trains. The footbridge will be replaced by a pedestrian underpass under the rail line as part of works at the Wangaratta Station precinct.
