00:00 >> Welcome to this history-making day today.
00:07 Such an honor and a pleasure to be here as we immortalize
00:12 Yoshiki in cement today.
00:14 Global music superstar, rock star, cover model, filmmaker,
00:18 style maker, fun guy, such a humble person, and so much love
00:23 for him as we're also streaming around the world.
00:26 Welcome to all of our global viewers right now.
00:30 Yoshiki is the first Japanese artist to ever be immortalized
00:36 in cement here at TCL Chinese Theater.
00:39 So it's an extremely special day, and we'd like to welcome
00:42 to the podium right now award-winning actor Lee Byung Hun.
00:47 [ Applause ]
00:58 >> Hello, everyone.
01:01 I'm Lee Byung Hun.
01:04 I came here early today, and I tried to find my hand and
01:09 footprint, but it's all covered up with the boxes.
01:14 Maybe next time.
01:17 It's an honor to be here at the hand and footprinting event
01:22 of the first Japanese-born artist, my friend Yoshiki.
01:28 I first met Yoshiki 10 years ago at a dinner hosted by my
01:33 good friends Mimi and Kenny.
01:37 After dinner, everyone asked him to play the piano.
01:42 As he started to play, I was reminded of my high school days
01:48 as a young guy in Korea.
01:51 His music filled my teenage years.
01:55 X-Japan was so popular in Korea and all of Asia.
02:01 These days, K-pop is all the rage, but back in the '90s,
02:07 X-Japan had a big influence on music in Asia.
02:12 Nowadays, we have streamers so everything can be seen or heard
02:17 around the world, but back then, we didn't have the same
02:22 technology.
02:24 That makes what Yoshiki has done so impressive.
02:29 After that first meeting, Yoshiki and I have become great
02:33 friends, even though we come from different countries.
02:38 He's a musician, I'm an actor, but we continue to inspire
02:43 each other.
02:45 I'm very proud to have my good friend Yoshiki's hand and
02:48 footprints close by mine.
02:52 I wanted to do a longer speech, but I was worried that the
02:57 comments would dry very quickly like when I did mine many years
03:02 ago.
03:04 Yoshiki, your music from more than 30 years is still going
03:11 praised and is loved.
03:14 I hope that goes on for eternity.
03:18 Congratulations, my friend.
03:20 Thank you very much.
03:22 [Applause]
