00:00 It's difficult and very difficult to sit and watch a film about you and about your life and about your love.
00:08 And...
00:10 Sorry.
00:15 Priscilla Presley teared up while remembering her late ex-husband, Elvis Presley.
00:23 The 78-year-old attended the Venice Film Festival on Monday for the premiere of Priscilla,
00:28 the highly anticipated Sofia Coppola film centered on her romance with the king of rock and roll.
00:34 Priscilla spoke out during the film's press conference about how it felt to watch a movie based on her life
00:39 and revealed her favorite part.
00:41 What moved you the most about the film and what did you identify the most in it?
00:48 The ending.
00:50 I think that's a really good question.
00:52 I think that's a really good question.
00:54 I think that's a really good question.
00:56 I think that's a really good question.
00:58 I think that's a really good question.
01:00 I think that's a really good question.
01:02 I think that's a really good question.
01:04 I think that's a really good question.
01:06 I think that's a really good question.
01:08 I think that's a really good question.
01:10 I think that's a really good question.
01:12 I think that's a really good question.
01:14 I think that's a really good question.
01:16 [applause]
01:22 I think Sofia did an amazing job.
01:25 I think Sofia did an amazing job.
01:26 She did her homework.
01:28 We spoke a couple of times.
01:30 We spoke a couple of times.
01:31 I really put everything out for her that I could.
01:37 I really put everything out for her that I could.
01:39 The ending.
01:41 The ending.
01:42 The ending.
01:45 For the gentleman who actually was a little bit,
01:48 not a little bit, but before you,
01:50 you talked a bit, you know,
01:52 it was very difficult for my parents to,
01:55 thank you,
01:56 very difficult for my parents to understand
01:59 that Elvis would be so interested in me.
02:02 She also addressed their controversial age gap,
02:05 noting that she was 14 and Elvis was 24 when they first met.
02:09 And I think, I really do think,
02:12 because I was more of a listener,
02:14 Elvis would pour his heart out to me in every way,
02:17 in Germany, his fears, his hopes,
02:22 the loss of his mother, which he never, ever got over.
02:26 And I was the person who really,
02:30 really sat there to listen and to comfort him.
02:35 That was really our connection.
02:37 Even though I was 14,
02:39 I was actually a little bit older in life,
02:42 not in numbers.
02:44 And that was the attraction.
02:48 And, you know, people think, "Oh, it was sex, it was this."
02:51 Not at all.
02:53 I never had sex with him.
02:55 He was very kind, very soft, very loving.
02:58 But he also respected the fact I was only 14 years old.
03:03 We were more in mind and thought.
03:08 And that was our relationship.
03:12 Yes, he called me when things weren't--
03:16 when he came back to the States.
03:18 That was also part of our relationship,
03:20 telling me all his woes and what was happening
03:23 and how upset he was on the screen with the director.
03:28 And I don't know why he put so much trust in me, but he did.
03:32 And I never, ever, ever told anyone that I was seeing him.
03:37 And that was another issue that he loved,
03:43 is the fact that I never gave him up in any way.
03:47 I never told anyone at school that I was seeing him.
03:51 So we built a relationship, and that relationship went on
03:55 until, yes, I left.
03:59 And it wasn't because I didn't love him.
04:02 He was the love of my life.
04:04 It was the lifestyle that was so difficult for me.
04:08 And I think any woman can relate to that.
04:11 But it didn't mar our relationship.
04:14 We still remain very, very close.
04:17 And of course we had our daughter,
04:19 and I made sure that he saw her all the time.
04:24 And we had--it was like we never left each other.
04:27 So I want to make that clear. Thank you.
04:30 Thank you. Thank you very much.
04:32 Based on her 1985 memoir, Elvis and Me,
04:35 Priscilla stars Kaylee Spaney and Jacob Elordi as the lovebirds.
04:39 Both stars were in attendance at the festival
04:41 alongside their director, Sophia, and Priscilla herself.
04:44 Priscilla and Elvis were married from 1967 to 1973,
04:48 and they shared one daughter together,
04:50 Lisa Marie Presley, who passed away at 54 years old
04:54 back in January.
04:55 It was later revealed that the songwriter died
04:57 as a result of complications from a small bowel obstruction
05:01 that was caused by a weight loss surgery years earlier.
05:04 Just days before Lisa Marie's death,
05:06 she spoke with Access Hollywood at the Golden Globes,
05:08 where she praised Austin Butler for his performance
05:11 in the movie Elvis.
05:13 Hi, everybody.
05:14 Hi.
05:15 Tell me what we're wearing tonight.
05:17 I'm God.
05:19 You're like me.
05:20 It's Valentino.
05:21 Oh, Valentino.
05:22 We just had Austin Butler up here.
05:25 Did you?
05:26 What did this movie mean to you and your family?
05:28 Everything.
05:29 It's just-- it's so incredible.
05:32 There's no words to describe it.
05:36 It's just so-- it's so important, that movie,
05:39 on so many levels.
05:41 And I'm so proud of him and Baz,
05:43 and I'm just here to support them.
05:47 Austin was funny talking about he worked really hard
05:50 to get Elvis' laugh down.
05:53 And it was like a hiccup of the-- did he nail it?
05:56 Absolutely.
05:57 Absolutely.
05:58 Everything, even the voice, the throat.
06:03 Like, what is it?
06:04 He would make these noises sometimes,
06:06 and he got all of it.
06:08 You know?
06:09 I don't know how to describe him,
06:10 but all of his mannerisms, he absolutely nailed it.
06:13 Will you guys stay in touch for this film,
06:16 whenever it goes, whenever he goes,
06:18 whenever he does next?
06:19 Do you see big stuff for Austin?
06:21 I do.
06:22 I do.
06:23 Such a sweetheart.
06:24 And just as good, as Jerry was saying,
06:26 as good offscreen as he is on-- amazing.
06:28 Such a sweetheart, like an authentic, true sweetheart.
06:31 I was his dad's friend, so.
06:33 Were you guys happy with the whole depiction of everything?
06:36 What a beautiful story.
06:37 Absolutely.
06:38 He likes it, 'cause there's a lot about him in the movie.
06:41 Yeah, Luke Bracey plays me in the movie.
06:43 Oh, nice, nice.
06:44 Yeah, yeah.
06:45 Well, enjoy tonight.
06:46 It's gonna be a spectacular night.
06:47 Nice to meet you.
