DA Seeks Joint Trials in Trump Case

The district attorney prosecuting the Georgia election interference case against former President Donald Trump and others asked a judge to order that any defendants granted "speedy trials" be tried together. Lawyer Kenneth Chesebro's trial is scheduled for late October 2023. The prosecutor argued against separating the cases into 19 trials or smaller groups at this stage, saying at minimum, Powell's trial and any others requesting a speedy trial should be on the same date as Chesebro's scheduled October trial. The judge had said deadlines for Chesebro's case did not automatically apply to co-defendants for now.
